The world is moving towards being able to identify your interests and commonalities within industries to attract other people for the purposes of connecting and engaging within your niche. It’s getting easier to search within industries for people who share your interests and connect with them for the purpose of expanding your network. In other words, the world is moving towards being able to identify with smaller and tighter groups of people. This by-product of innovation and technology will only increase in speed and separate those who do not share commonalities while connecting people who do. Creating silos while creating bridges, moving further apart while bringing closer together is what innovation and technology has always done. Don’t believe me? Keep reading …

Think about the video game industry and everything that industry has done to connect via the internet people playing a certain game from all over the world to all over the neighborhood! People no longer have to play “against the computer” as was the case when I was growing up. If you can’t find someone to sit right next to you and play your game with you, in other words, if you can’t find someone who shares your interests in the game from the neighborhood which you are in, you longer have to be alone in the company of the game. You can actually scout out and play with a magnitude of online gamers who just like you, love the game and know how to play. It can even trickle down into skill level and other even more niche factors within the game itself. This isn’t new by the way! This has already been going on strong for a while. Can’t find anyone who wants to be on your team or play against? Not a problem anymore because now you can jump on the games online platform and connect into an entire community of gamers who have the same passion and drive to play as you do. Make some online friends, score some points, shoot-up a few zombies, some even adjust their entire schedule to play with someone across the globe. Or you can play with someone in another province or state. Someone a lot closer than you think may just be the partner you have been looking for. This person could even be living right around the corner from you and you didn’t even know it until you met them for the first time online. Could a friendship actually emerge from such an encounter? I think it is definitely possible and actually very likely.

What about an industry all the way on the other side of the spectrum. The dating scene has actually turned into an industry that has gone through remarkable changes to save people time, money, their ego and has turned the once laughable idea of meeting someone online into a filtering process that makes sense which also has the credibility to give you with confidence, real choices and more power over who you can actually meet based on your niche personality.

What about another example, what about the personal buying and selling industry. Even garage sales have benefited from this digital revolution by way of innovation and technology. Very popular and profitable online platforms have made it easier than ever to buy and sell anything and everything you are looking for. Think about how much more convenient it is to now put your product or service online where buyers and sellers can meet outside of any major corporation and be able to sell or buy based on criteria and your specific needs.

The point is industries have emerged to provide the ability to search and discover micro-communities. People now know finding their micro-community can save them time, money, bring faster and more efficient value to their life and also help them provide value to others. These industries have emerged solely based on the demand people have and want.

Here is another example of a micro-community that not everyone knows exists but is real, prominent and has the ability to thrive. Think about it. Any guesses? I’m talking about the gym, your gym and the entire gym industry. A gym is a micro-community. You work out at a gym, right? You leave the comforts of your home and the pleasure of all your leisure activities to go to a place and exert your energy, inflict the pain of working out on your body, stress and strain your muscles all in an effort to improve your mind, body and soul. You work out to increase your energy levels, increase your confidence, eliminate toxins from your body, recharge and center yourself. You work out to look and feel great and better every day. You care about your diet, your appearance, your spirit, your body, the clothes you wear inside and outside the gym. I mean, you should right? You are at the gym for hours and hours for a fitter and firmer body which you want to look great in the clothes you wear. Remember your name brand clothes don’t make your body look good, it’s your body that makes your clothes look great! You care about your sleeping patterns because you know the right amount of sleep is necessary to recuperate your body after time in the gym. These aspects and so much more are all a part of the gym culture people who work out enjoy on a daily basis. People who work out at gyms have a lot in common which makes for the micro-community they are a part of.

The question is, do people take advantage of their micro-communities? How do they interact and is there a chance for any mutually beneficial relationship to exist? Think about all the time you spend at the gym and how many people you are around which you may or may not know. Think about the fact that you are in a place which contains other people that have so much in common as you do yet how many of these people do you know? The gym is a better and more advantageous micro-community than others in that the people who are around you and the people you are working out with all are usually the same people in your other communities who probably live near you do. This fact can facilitate any friendship or partnership prospering. The people at your gym may be the same people who live down the street from you but definitely do not live in another country! This is why meeting and building relationships with people at your gym can be a positive game changer for your business and social networks. You all share the same communities and on top of this you have many commonalities because you have all converged at a place which attracts and focuses so much of your interests and attention.

On top of that, have you ever noticed that people who work out seem to be a little tougher than those who don’t? Its takes discipline and dedication which strengthens resolve to work out which people who don’t work out simply do not possess. The question is, who would you rather start and complete a difficult challenge with? A friend who doesn’t work out and doesn’t have the discipline and dedication to persevere through pain to get the job done, or a soon to be friend who is in great shape and who has the determination and resolve to stay the course, push through pain and get the job done as they have done countless time by getting each and every hard working in. I think we would all rather partner with our soon to be friend who may be lifting weights or doing some cardio right next to you the next time you are at the gym.

The fact of the matter is the most relatable people we could know may be at our gym, or the gym down the street but getting to know them is the only thing stopping a relationship from starting. Spotlight can change all that. Spotlight is the platform where mutually beneficial relationships can start and grow. Spotlight is the platform where you can actually meet more like-minded people who have the thirst and desire for fitness, performing and success as you have. Spotlight allows you to break the ice in a digital way with people you want to know and learn about, people within your micro-community. Think about being at the gym and being surrounded by so many people who are all their for the same reasons and who have fitness and success at the top of their minds yet, not knowing a majority of them just because saying hello or knowing more about them is harder to do the traditional way. Spotlight allows you to break the ice and grow your network by innovating the way we select a gym to work out in and providing you with the specifics you needs about who else is at your gym.

It’s time to use a simpler way to connect with people at your gym. The same people you share so much in common with. It’s time to discover your community and grow your network to its full capacity. Stop being passive about who you can meet and start building the right team you need to reach your goals. It’s time to take more control over your workouts and who you spend your valuable time with. It’s time to be someone at the gym.
