Have you ever wondered if there were more people like you? Focused, determined, hardworking, disciplined who will fight for what they want. That’s you. Wouldn’t it be great if there were more people like you inside your network? Some say it would be very hard to find many people that fit that criteria but I would say all you have to do is search in the right places. So where do people that are focused, determined, hardworking, disciplined and who will fight for what they want go? Where can you find these people that fit this achievement orientated lifestyle? Where can you find people that understand nothing great is ever earned without hard work and determination? The same place you find people that are pushing their limits set after set striving for their ultimate physique all while working hard and struggling through the entire workout because they know how amazing the rewards of accomplishment are. You know the place I’m talking about, right? I’m talking about the gym. The only place where you know every other people in there is also concerned about their health, fitness, diet, sleep, mental and physical exertion, their focus, aesthetic appeal and on and on. The gym is where you can find someone just like you. Yes, everyone definitely has unique personal traits and preferences but there is so much more common ground with members of a gym that I think we realize. Think I’m wrong? Ask yourself why people even go to a gym? Why would they leave all the comforts of their home behind to drive through any type of weather condition to go to a place and exert tremendous amounts of pain and struggle all in an effort to gain power and stamina? Why do you? The answers are all the same. Only the members of a gym and everyone working out around you realize the feeling, confidence, mental relief and satisfaction that comes out of working out. Everyone at a gym wants the same thing which is to be the healthiest and to have the best physical and mental version of themselves. Many of these people do not exist at your office or on your work site but they can be found in the gym. I’ve learned throughout the years that the best way to find out what type of work ethic, resilience, resolve and integrity someone has, you must put them through a workout and not just any workout but one of your workouts. Only then can you find out what someone is made out of, what kind of strength they possess and what they are willing to do to achieve their goals. This is powerful information about people that we all can use with a combination of other factors to measure people. You know the strength involved in finishing one of your workouts and you also know that not everyone around you would be able to. So when you see someone at the gym who is working as hard or even harder than you, you know the key ingredients for success is within that person. Think of the networking opportunities that can exist within a facility where you can measure the work ethic and desire for achievement of so many people. I do realize measuring someone by one or many workouts can have limited observations however it is more than just a start nonetheless. Let’s use one of the most common examples of why you can really gain personally by knowing and networking with people at your gym which can be carpooling or better yet to have workout buddies or partners. Some of the most determined people I know at the gym go solo, all by themselves because of the focus and work ethic they require and the lack of people they know, that also workout that has the focus and work ethic they do. At the same time they do realize that they need some support at the gym and if they could easily network with some of the other people they admire at the gym, they could benefit from the knowledge shared and the support gained. It’s a lot easier to “break the ice” and first get to know someone through a platform like Spotlight which is dedicated to supporting your fitness needs through a variety of features that will keep you motivated and more involved than ever in your fitness journey. Think of how easy it can be to learn about and understand the motives of other members at your gym. In this example, you could actually learn the likes, dislikes, motives, fitness and well-being habits of someone at the gym you can see yourself working out with. After you get to know this person on Spotlight and they also see that you are as dedicated as they are, a friendship can form and you both can gain from the new relationship. A relationship based on working out to the max and pushing each other to even new height, which would not have been reached with out the mutually beneficial friendship you have now. This works with any gender and any age group. I see people at the gym working out alone all the time and if all it takes is Spotlight and a few messages to get to know others who share your fitness visions and who also need gym buddies, then now it is easier than ever with Spotlight to gain the friendships we all need. I also see many people at the gym working out without the knowledge they need to work out safely and effectively. Imagine if you can introduce yourself through your brand or through your website to others that can benefit from your services without even having to say hello at the gym. If this is you and you see people at the gym that could use a helping hand, simply direct them to your profile on Spotlight and let them see for themselves the benefits of working out with you or even just listening to you are. There are countless other examples of why knowing people at your gym, extending your network to people you work out with and creating more of a community at your gym is beneficial to the lives of everyone at your gym but for the sake of the length of this article, we’ll list just one more example for now. Picture yourself in high school or college and you are gearing up for exams. You feel good about most exams but this one is the one you are actually petrified of, I mean really scared of. You just can’t figure the class out and need help. You try reaching out for help at your school with others friends and the teacher but it’s just not sticking. After hours of studying one day you want to clear your mind and take a break. Where do you go? You hit the gym of course. While searching for the best gyms to go to, you notice that a tutor that specializes in the subject you are having troubles with is at a gym that you don’t usually go to. You tell yourself “I don’t usually go to that gym but I could go today, its only 10 minute away from my usual gym and plus maybe I can talk to this guy and maybe he can help me out”. You get to the gym as fast as possible and you see on your Spotlight App he is still there. You message the tutor and tell him you are at the gym and would like to talk just for a few minutes. He replies about 5 minutes later and says he can chat for a few minutes in about 30 minutes and to meet him by the cardio section. You’re thrilled. You start your workout but meet him at the cardio section 30 minutes later. You explain the issues you’re having and to your surprise the tutor says “I see this all the time. Usually people aren’t taught the simplest ways to solve those problems only the ways they want to teach you.” Your like “exactly!” After a few more minutes discussing the issues and the timelines, the tutor says “why don’t you come by after my next class and I can teach you the simplest and best ways of solving this problem and I’ll even give you a great rate because of the initiative I can see in you”. To which you reply “oh course, thank you so much!” This is just another example of the network we are missing out on just because we don’t know the people we hang out with every single workout. Sounds crazy I know. This doesn’t have to be the case any longer. Let’s build our network but not with people we will never see or people that cannot make a difference in our lives. Let’s build our network with people in our community, in the places we are in so often and with the people that can make a lasting impact in our lives.
It’s time to be someone at the gym and it’s time to use Spotlight to help improve your workout experience.
