Don’t you just love the feeling of being yourself, acting like yourself and not being compelled or confined to a version of you that you are supposed to be? I’m sure your thinking, of course, but that will never be me. I will always be me and I will always scream it from the mountain tops. The truth however is most people are confined to a version of themselves that they believe is socially acceptable and the responsible thing to do is just act out that safe version and fit in nicely so that no feathers are ever ruffled. Whose feathers? Most often the people you sometimes can’t stand but definitely the feathers of people not as important as you. You become more important than ever, as each day goes by and we all need to strive to be the best versions of ourselves each and every day. If not now, then when? If we are not striving to be the best versions of ourselves, what are we doing? Most people in their younger years feel invincible and feel like they just cannot be contained but for some reason, as we get older, that super human feeling seems to diminish. It can be for a variety of reason namely, realizing the world does not bend to our every wish or desire as it seemed to do when we were younger, dealing with certain individuals that have those very particular personalities, spending more time on things and other people and less time on ourselves and of course the feelings that go along with wondering if the decisions being made will bring happiness at some point. These are very real and complex issues but I do know from personal experience that by striving to be the best version of yourself, every day, you can manage and fight off the issues surrounding your day. The best version of yourself is you in the most confident and powerful state you can be in mentally, spiritually and physically. Notice how this has nothing to do with what clothes you wear or what car you drive. Those are just superficial items that should never determine how you feel about yourself. Nice watches and fancy things like that are cool to have but should never determine the content of your being. It’s you and your body that makes those clothes look good, not the other way around, remember that! Being the best version of yourself means you are constantly growing, adapting, adjusting, embracing things you can’t change all while powering through and overcoming things you can change. Being the best version of yourself is something that you need to consider and work towards every day. Don’t believe me? Were you the best version of yourself when you were in grade 5? Or what just even 5 years ago? The truth is we all need to constantly evolve because our worlds and lives are constantly changing and evolving as well. We need to be there fighting for our truths at every age. This is the fight we all must face for the best version of ourselves. You can start the process of being the best version of yourself in many different areas. There is the spiritual area, emotional, educational, your network, your attitude, every area of ourselves deserves the best version of ourselves. In this article, I’m going to share how being the best version of yourself from a physical perspective can have an enormous positive impact and can align you and can also affect other areas of your life for the better as well. Working out, being fit, exercising changes our bodies and minds. What once we thought was difficult, after consistent work and repeated attempts, becomes easy. If you are new to the gym or even if you are experienced, the gym and exercising in general provides so many levels and opportunities for growth. The constant growing allows you to shift into better versions of yourself after every single workout. You know it’s true! You know the feeling you get after finishing your second workout, you know the feeling after working out for a week and starting to see the slightest differences in your body and you also know what it’s like to add another plate to your chest press! Growth, satisfaction and fulfillment are what consistently exercising and working out provides. The best part is that this does spill over into other areas of your life. Working out gives you the ability and the opportunity to see drastic changes in your life by just changing one area of your life and that is to decide to be consistent with your exercise routines. Start by deciding to make a change in the way you look and feel. Understand the benefits of working out. Understand the science that working out and exercising does literally make you feel better. Know that exercise releases the happy hormone otherwise known as endorphins into your brain, know that exercise helps your heart work more efficiently by pumping more blood into your muscles which increases blood flow which is beneficial for your brain, know that exercise actually slows down your cells from aging, did I mention that the increases blood flow helps nourish your skin cells. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to working cells throughout your body including your skin making you look and feel great! Being fit and exercising is not all about feeling and looking better, even though that should be enough. Being fit and exercising is a transferable skill which can have positive impacts in other areas of our life as well. Think about it. Being fit and exercising develops your discipline and inner peace. It develops your ability to think and process issues. Have you even noticed how much more clearly and confidently you can think after being in the gym for a period of time? Personally, I know I can think very creatively once I get the blood pumping and what once seemed like a major situation seems like less of one after taking my mind off those situations to work on my body and focus on lifting as best as I can. Did you catch that? Taking your mind off mentally difficult situations to peruse physically difficult situations first strengthens your body and then your mind. When you become stronger, you can lift more, run further, be faster and overcome difficult obstacles using the power of your mind. Being fit and exercising has transferable qualities. Being fit and exercising has the power of science behind it when it comes to relieving so many health related issues. I’m sure we all know of the physical benefits people can have by working out but what about the spiritual and mental benefits? Working out and exercising promotes calmness into your life. It is a stress and anxiety reliever and if you don’t know stress and anxiety can be serious damage to your body and mind. Why take your problems out on yourself or other people when you can take them out on weights and some cardio equipment? As we mentioned above, working out strengthens your discipline and in turn strengthens your will power and mind which will help you make think more clearly which in turn will increase your decision making capabilities. Things are much more connected than we sometimes believe. Being the best version of you requires you to constantly improve your being from a mental, spiritual and physical perspective. Working out will help you achieve your mental, spiritual and physical goals. The best version of you is waiting for you. Don’t disappoint your full potential and be the person that you and the entire world are waiting for. We all need you to be the best person so that you can impact others to be their best version of themselves as well. A community starts with one and a message. That community and message can grow to epic proportions. Start with your message and grow your community. It can start with exercise and working out. Go on! What are you waiting for? It’s time to start the journey and quest. It’s time to start celebrating your success stories while you are fighting for your ultimate physique. It’s time to own the spotlight and be someone at the gym.
