Breaking down niche markets and gathering people with like-minded interests within different niche markets is the future of innovation. Developing, attracting and focusing on niche markets has always been the best way to promote your ideas and advertise your intent. Once established, niche markets bear the resemblance of a place where people gather that have similar interests, ideas, wants and needs. When new platforms are introduced, niche markets can be further broken down to establish a new forum of people all on their quest. What I’m here to discuss today in particular is one niche market that is big. It is major and it is a rock that has not been turned over. This niche market is missing an element and it is something you are great at. Something you do daily to enhance your life and lifestyle. Something you enjoy doing and protect at all costs. Something that forges its way into your life and sometimes cannot be controlled. This one thing has a striving ability and is of the major reasons for your existence. Communication is what I am referring to and communication within this niche market is what is missing. The simple act of communication will transform this nice market into a platform and forum which will add value, impact, choice, convenience and purpose to the lives of all involved. This is an untapped niche market which will have a new purpose, ability and strength when uncovered. This may apply to many different niche markets and theories in general but what I am referring to the gym or any type of workout facility. When you drive by a gym, what do you see? Do you see a market place full of people with similar interests, attitudes, wants, needs, desires and theories? I do. People spend their most valuable asset, which is their time, in a gym working out struggling and striving through pain to reach gain and results. People leave the comfort of their homes, their families and the comfort of the little time they have to rest to turn on their engines and go back on the roads through snow, hail, rain, fog and even the pleasure of outdoor sunshine to go to a gym of some kind and spend their time surrounded by people they don’t know to improve their health and physic. I’ve spent years in a gym. I know the nuances, issues and strengths of gyms. I’ve been in many different gyms and some have been great and some have been terrible. I can compare gyms and know which ones appeal to their audience, which ones are great to work out in and which ones to avoid. Even still there are similarities and differences between all great and terrible gyms. I see how the staff interacts with the members and have a lot of thoughts on improvements gyms can make. However this article is mostly about the members. Members work out in gyms, spend time around other members strive for their best results. Back to the previous thought about gyms being market places. Members are the reason why gyms are market places. They are the product of gyms. They are the connection between successful gyms and ones that are not successful. Members have likes, dislikes, wants, needs, desires, affiliations, careers, things they can offer and lives to maintain. This is the market place. When I drive to my gym and see all the cars in the parking lot I am reassured of this market place. People of all walks of life convene at this one particular place to improve their life. When I walk into the gym I am usually greeted by staff and the level of service the staff engage. The level of service and quality of the gym and how that correlates to the success of the gym is for a different article. As discussed, working out is painful and inconvenient even though it is great for your health. Raising the convenience factor of working out will raise the percentage of people going to a gym and working out. Working out from home is always an option but does not provide the level of functionality and practicality that a gym offers. However, that is for another article. After I walk into a gym and prepare for my workout, the same thoughts appear in my head. Who are these people? What do they do? What do they like? What do they dislike? What do they do for fun? Where do they live and where did they go to school? The questions go on and on. Maybe I’m just curious about people. Maybe I want to benefit from the people around me. Maybe I want to help the people and have them benefit from me. It is some of all. However the problem is I cannot answer these questions unless I spent time with each of them and ask which is possible on a small scale but what about on a large scale. How can I know about the people, and have them know about me, when I spend time with usually four days a week for roughly one and a half hours each day which equates to roughly six hours a week or twenty-four hours a month. There is a need to know and interact with people. It is a social and communal need which propels us to interact with people across the globe. What about the people directly within our community? What about the people you work out with? Would it make sense to know the people you work out with? Why not? These are people in your community who may have similar interests, wants, needs, desires, careers and drives as you. Could you help them? Could they help you? Do you know on a large scale the people you spend time with at your gym? Does it make sense to? I strongly believe the answer is yes. A platform that brings people together that work out will solve the problem of not knowing who else is at the gym. Now people will have a platform to visit when curious about which gym to go to based on who else is at the gym. Members will have platform to get to know who is at their gym that may benefit them or they can benefit. Mechanisms can be installed on the platform to be able to message people and set up meetings or workout partners. Online profiles will give app users a glimpse into the life of someone they may see regularly but do not know. Do not know they can help. Do not know they can benefit from. Do not know of the mutually beneficial relationship that can be had if there was a way to start the conversation. This can be possible with an interface which brings people of like-minded interests together. This app for the gym community is called Spotlight. People want to know about the people in their gym. They want to know who they are, if a mutually beneficial relationship can be started and what role an app can have in their pursuit of their ultimate physique. Gym members leave the comfort of their home with all their pleasures to workout and submerse themselves in the gym culture surrounded by others who, sometimes unknowingly, have more in common with them than their other friends. Gym members know what it takes to strive for fitness and know about the joy and pain that comes along with it. Gym members have the good fortune of being around others like themselves and knowing what it takes to get the results they want and because of this, a community and network can be built for everyone who uses Spotlight. A community of many started by increasing your network one at a time. This is why Spotlight will be successful. Spotlight has the ability to innovate an industry the likes of which has never been felt before. Spotlight has the ability to bring together everyone who already stands shoulder to shoulder striving for their own ultimate physique but just needs ability to see the commonalities and similarities that exist. Once people start believing that Spotlight can help them maintain and enhance their workouts, they will also believe they are more than just anyone at the gym. They will realize they are someone at the gym who is surrounded by others just like them. Your network will grow and a community will be built and Spotlight will be there celebrating the success stories of everyone on their quest searching for their ultimate physique.
